| Air Methods Corporation (AMC) provides air medical emergency transport services and systems in the United States. It transports persons requiring intensive medical care from either the scene of an accident or general care hospitals to highly skilled trauma centers or tertiary care centers. The company also designs, manufactures, and installs aircraft medical interiors, and other aerospace and medical transport products. AMC provides its services through two divisions, Community-Based Model (CBM) and Hospital-Based Model (HBM). The Community-Based Model division offers various services, such as medical care, aircraft operation and maintenance, 24-hour communications and dispatch, and medical billing and collections. As of December 31, 2004, the company's CBM division provided air medical transportation services in 17 states, while its HBM division provided air medical transportation services to hospitals located in 26 states and Puerto Rico. The Hospital-Based Model division provides hospital clients with medically-equipped helicopters and airplanes, which are generally based at hospitals. As of April 7, 2005, AMC owned, leased, or maintained a fleet of approximately 180 helicopters and fixed wing aircraft.
