TAXUS Liberte is a paclitaxel eluting coronary stent system incorporating the paclitaxel technology to treat restenosis, and other local inflammatory and proliferative disease. Vascular Wrap is a drug-loaded bioresorbable surgical mesh that is applied to the outside wall of a vessel to prevent stenosis following vascular bypass surgery in the limbs. Adhibit adhesion prevention gel, a nondrug-loaded biomaterial product is undergoing human clinical studies in Europe designed to assess the safety and efficacy of Adhibit in preventing surgical adhesions in women that have undergone the myomectomy surgical procedure for the removal of uterine fibroids. Peripheral Drug Eluting Stent Program is a study of a paclitaxel-eluting stent to treat peripheral artery disease in the limbs. In addition, the company has programs in preclinical stages of development, including its anti-infective central venous catheter program and intra-articular paclitaxel program for the prevention of post injury contractures and cartilage preservation. Angiotech has a strategic alliance with Baxter Healthcare Corporation, providing Baxter with worldwide manufacturing and marketing rights for CoSeal and Adhibit. Angiotech was co-founded by William Hunter and David Hall and incorporated in 1989. The company was formerly known as Holwest Industries, Ltd. and changed its name to Angiogenesis Technologies, Inc. in 1992.
