The company was incorporated in 1973 under the name Niobec, Inc. and changed its name to Cambior, Inc. in 1986. Cambior is based in Longueuil, Canada. The company acquired Sequoia Minerals, Inc., consolidating the ownership of the Niobec mine in July 2004.
