Banco Itau Holding Financeira S.A. operates as a bank holding company, providing various banking and financial services in Brazil. The company operates in four segments: Banking; Insurance, Private Retirement Plans, and Capitalization Plans; Credit Cards; and Asset Management and Investor Services. The Banking segment provides traditional banking products, such as checking and savings accounts, and certificates of deposit. It also provides various credit products, including overdraft accounts, and consumer and personal loans. The Banking segment provides retail banking services to individuals and very small corporations. It offers various financial products and services to middle market customers, including deposit-taking, investment options, insurance, private retirement plans, and credit products. Credit products include investment capital loans, working capital loans, inventory financing, trade financing, foreign currency services, equipment leasing services, letters of credit, and guarantees. This segment also conducts financial transactions on behalf of middle market clients. The Insurance, Private Retirement Plans, and Capitalization Plans segment provides automobile, life, property, casualty, and health insurance. It also provides private retirement and capitalization plans. Asset Management and Investor Services segment provides various asset management and investor services. It also provides portfolio management services for pension funds, corporations, private bank customers, and foreign investors. This segment offers and manages investment funds, including fixed income and money market funds, and provides brokerage services. Credit Cards segment offers credit cards to new depositors and Itaucard credit cards to nondepositors. As of December 31, 2003, Banco Itau Holding had a network of 2,238 full service branches throughout Brazil. The company was founded in 1944 and is based in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
