| Trinity Biotech Plc engages in the development, manufacture, and marketing of diagnostic test kits used for the clinical laboratory and point-of-care segments of the diagnostic market. The companys products are Enzyme Immunoassays (EIA), Fluorescence Assays, Western Blot (WB), Rapid Assays, Haemostasis, and Clinical Chemistry. The EIA aids in providing the clinician with information to assist in the diagnosis of various disorders, such as autoimmune diseases, hormonal imbalances, sexually transmitted diseases, enteric infections, respiratory infections, cardiovascular diseases, and other diseases. The Fluorescence Assays are used to diagnose autoimmune disorders; infectious diseases, such as legionnaires disease and lyme disease; and sexually transmitted diseases, which include chlamydia and herpes. The Western Blot assays are used in reference or speciality laboratories for confirming the presence, or absence, of antibodies. The Rapid Assays tests indicate the presence, or absence, of antigens or antibodies as an aid in the diagnosis of infection or other clinical conditions. The Haemostasis test kits assess and diagnose disorders of blood coagulation, thrombotic risk factors, fibrinolysis, platelet function, and the vascular system. The Clinical Chemistry products are suitable for both manual and automated testing; and are used in the diagnosis of various disease states from liver and kidney disease to G6PDH deficiency, which is an indicator of haemolytic anaemia. Trinity Biotech markets its products in the U.S. and in approximately 80 countries worldwide through a combination of direct selling and a network of distributors. The company was co-founded by Ronan O'Caoimh in 1992 and is headquartered in Bray, Ireland.
