The company, through its branch network and strategic alliances with auto groups and banks, purchases retail installment contracts entered into by auto dealers with consumers, who are typically unable to obtain financing from traditional sources. Its servicing activities consist of collecting and processing customer payments, responding to customer inquiries, initiating contact with customers who are delinquent in payment of an installment, maintaining the security interest in the financed vehicle, monitoring physical damage insurance coverage of the financed vehicle, arranging for the repossession of, and liquidating collateral when necessary. As of March 31, 2005, the company operated 89 auto lending branch offices. AmeriCredit Corp. was formed under the laws of Texas in 1986 and is headquartered in Fort Worth, Texas.
