The Storage Solutions Group provides storage solutions that enable information technology organizations to move, store, and protect data. The Desktop Solutions Group provides input or output connectivity and digital media solutions for personal computing platforms, including notebook and desktop personal computers sold to consumers, and small and midsize businesses. The Storage Networking Group provides storage connectivity and data-transfer solutions for servers, storage devices, fabric switches, and network attached storage devices. Adaptec sells its products through original equipment manufacturers and distribution channel customers to enterprises, Internet service providers, small and midsize businesses, government agencies, value added resellers, and retail consumers. The company has a strategic alliance with Vitesse Semiconductor Corp. to develop and market serial attached SCSI products. Adaptec was founded in 1981 in California and is headquartered in Milpitas, California.
