AmeriVest Properties, Inc., a real estate investment trust (REIT), engages in the ownership, management, leasing, and acquisition of commercial office space in the United States. The company leases its commercial office buildings to small and medium size tenants. AmeriVest provides various amenities for the small and medium size businesses in its office properties, such as conference rooms with telecommunications and presentation equipment, common area and tenant finish, and other technology and service facilities. As of March 31, 2005, it owned 17 office properties located in metropolitan Denver, Dallas, Phoenix, and Indianapolis. The company has elected to be taxed as a REIT under the Internal Revenue Code and would not be subject to federal income tax to the extent it distributes at least 90% of its taxable income. AmeriVest was incorporated in 1999 and is headquartered in Denver, Colorado.
