AirNet Communications Corporation engages in the design, development, manufacture, and installation of broadband, software-defined base stations, base station controllers, and related wireless infrastructure components for wireless telecommunications in the Global Systems for Mobile Communications (GSM) market. Its base station subsystem features four base station products: the AdaptaCell base station; the adaptive array SuperCapacity base station; the RapidCell base station; and the AirSite Backhaul Free base station. The AdaptaCell wireless base station supports up to 12 GSM radio frequency carriers for up to 4 pairs of antennas. The adaptive array base station solution provides a base station with a software upgrade path to data. The RapidCell base station provides government and military communications users with up to 96 voice and data channels in a compact deployable design capable of processing multiple GSM protocols simultaneously. The AirSite Backhaul Free base station carries wireless voice and data signals back to the wireline network, eliminating the need for a physical backhaul link. The company markets its products worldwide to operators of wireless networks, as well as to military and public safety organizations through a network of original equipment manufacturers, agents, resellers, and direct sales force. AirNet was co-founded by Terry L. Williams in 1994 as Overture Systems, Inc. and subsequently changed its name to AirNet Communications Corporation. The company is headquartered in Melbourne, Florida.
