The company operates in three segments: Consumer Banking, Commercial Banking, and Wealth Management. AmSouth operates in Alabama, Florida, Tennessee, Mississippi, Louisiana, and Georgia. As of June 27, 2005, it operated approximately 685 branch banking offices and 1,240 ATMs. The company was organized in 1970 and is headquartered in Birmingham, Alabama.
