It operates in southeast Asia, Australia, the Mediterranean Sea, and the U.S. Gulf of Mexico. It owned and operated a fleet of nine semisubmersible and jack-up drilling rigs and managed two drilling rigs, as of December 10, 2004. Atwood Oceanics was organized in 1968 and is headquartered in Houston, Texas.
