Allegheny Energy, Inc., a utility holding company, through its subsidiaries, engages in power generation operations, as well as in electric and natural gas distribution and transmission. Allegheny operates in two segments, Generation and Marketing, Delivery and Services. The Generation and Marketing segment develops, owns, operates, and manages electric generating facilities. The Delivery and Services segment operates electric and natural gas public utility systems. This segment serves areas of rural and suburban with economies based primarily in manufacturing and natural resources and services. This segment also engages in activities, such as telecommunications and unregulated energy-related projects. Allegheny was incorporated in 1925. The company has its headquarters in Greensburg, Pennsylvania.
