Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria, S.A (BBVA), an international financial group, engages in the retail banking, asset management, private banking, and wholesale banking businesses. Its Retail Banking division includes asset management and private banking business in Spain and Portugal, covering the residential customer, and small and medium entities in these markets; the Finanzia Group/ Uno-e group, which specializes in the e-banking business, consumer financing, and card product distribution; BBVA Portugal, the private banking businesses; and mutual and pension fund management and insurance businesses. The Wholesale and Investment Banking division comprises the companys national and international corporate banking and institutional banking businesses. In addition, it includes trading businesses located in Spain, Europe, and New York; equity distribution and origination business; and security deposit and custody service business, as well as real estate business. BBVA also engages in the banking, pensions, and insurance activities in the Latin America region. Its International Private Banking unit focuses on providing investment advice and asset management services to high net worth individuals through offices in Europe and America. In addition, the company also holds investments in industrial corporations and financial institutions. Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria was formed in 1999 as a result of merger of Banco Bilbao Vizcaya, S.A. and Argentaria, Caja Postal y Banco Hipotecario, S.A. The company is based in Bilbao, Spain.
