The company offers integrated development solutions designed to address various dimensions of an applications lifecycle, including definition, design, development, testing, and deployment. Borland addresses the software lifecycle through its Java development environment, JBuilder and various rapid application development tools, including Delphi, C++Builder, and Kylix. Its deployment products include Borland AppServer, a CORBA and J2EE platform-compliant application server, and VisiBroker, a CORBA object request broker. The company also offers Borland AppCenter for application management; Borland StarTeam, which provides an automated software configuration management system for supporting the management of assets and application life cycle tasks from within a single repository; CaliberRM, which enables collaboration between distributed teams; and Borland Together technologies, which provide design and analysis capabilities to the development team. In addition, Borland provides consulting, training, support, and certification services. The company sells its products through direct sales organization and indirectly through a network of independent distributors, dealers, value-added resellers, specialty catalogue vendors, and independent software vendors. Borland was founded in 1983 under the name Borland International, Inc. and changed its name to Borland International Delaware, Inc. in July 1989. Thereafter, the company changed its name to Borland International, Inc. in October 1989, to Inprise Corporation in 1998, and to Borland Software Corporation in 2001. Borland Software Corporation is headquartered in Scotts Valley, California.
