Circuit City Stores, Inc. engages in retailing brand name consumer electronics, personal computers, and entertainment software. The companys products include video equipment, including televisions, digital satellite systems, DVD players, video cassette recorders, camcorders, and cameras; audio equipment, such as home and portable audio systems; and mobile electronics, including car audio, video, and security systems. Its products also include home office products, which include personal computers, printers, peripherals, software, and facsimile machines; entertainment software, including video games, DVD movies, and music; and other consumer electronics products, such as wireless phones, corded and cordless phones, and accessories. As of April 30, 2004, Circuit City had 607 retail locations throughout the United States. The company was founded in 1949 and is headquartered in Richmond, Virginia. Circuit City Stores sold its private-label credit card operation, which included private label Circuit City credit card accounts and co-branded Circuit City Plus Visa credit card accounts, to Bank One Corporation in May 2004.
