Commercial Metals Company (CMC) engages in the manufacture, recycle, marketing, and distribution of steel and metal products, and related materials and services in the United States and internationally. It operates in five segments: Domestic Mills, CMCZ, Domestic Fabrication, Recycling, and Marketing and Distribution. Domestic Mills segment operates through a network of 4 steel mills, which produce reinforcing bar, angles, flats, small beams, rounds, and fence post sections; scrap processing facilities that directly support these minimills; and a copper tube minimill. CMCZ segment sells rebar to fabricators, distributors, and construction companies. Domestic Fabrication segment offers fabricating joists and special beams for floor and ceiling support, and steel fence posts. Recycling segment processes secondary metals or scrap metals as a raw material, which is used by manufacturers of new metal products; and sells recycled metals to steel mills and foundries, aluminum sheet and ingot manufacturers, brass and bronze ingot makers, copper refineries and mills, secondary lead smelters, specialty steel mills, and high temperature alloy manufacturers. Marketing and Distribution segment buys and sells primary and secondary metals, fabricated metals, and other industrial products through a network of offices, processing facilities, and joint venture offices world wide. The company was incorporated in 1946 and is headquartered in Irving, Texas.
