Devcon International Corp. primarily engages in the production and distribution of construction materials in the Caribbean islands. The company operates in three divisions: Construction, Materials, and Electronic Security Services. Its Construction division performs earthmoving, excavating, and filling operations; builds golf courses, roads, and utility infrastructures; dredges waterways; and constructs deep-water piers and marinas. It primarily offers these services to building contractors, government agencies, asphalt pavers, and individual homeowners. The Materials division produces and distributes ready-mix concrete, crushed stone, concrete block, and asphalt, as well as distributes bagged cement. The Electronic Security Services division provides electronic security services and related products, including intrusion and fire detection services, as well as access control systems and closed circuit television systems to residential homes, financial institutions, industrial and commercial businesses, warehouses, facilities of government departments, and health care and educational facilities. Devcon International was co-founded by Donald L. Smith, Jr. in 1951. The company was formerly known as Zinke-Smith, Inc. and changed its name to Devcon International Corp. in 1971. Devcon International is headquartered in Deerfield Beach, Florida.
