EMS Technologies, Inc. engages in the design, manufacture, and marketing of hardware products for commercial space, defense, and wireless communications. The company operates in five segments: Defense and Space Systems, LXE, EMS Wireless, SATCOM, and SatNet. The Defense and Space Systems segment offers microwave products for space and defense applications. It offers ferrite circulators, isolators, phase shifters, switches and switching networks, and transmit-receive networks; electronic subsystems; radar illuminator subsystems; signal-management and signal processing hardware; and terrestrial and aeronautical antenna systems. The LXE segment produces mobile computers and wireless local area network products for logistics and other enterprise applications. It also provides terminal emulation software and communications gateways; accessory products and services, including barcode scanners, battery chargers, portable printers, pre- and post-sale professional services, and repair and maintenance services; and wireless network equipment. In addition, LXE offers supporting products and services for its wireless networks, including wireless network management tools, wireless security tools, facility analysis, installation, and support. The EMS Wireless segment provides base-station antennas and repeaters for personal communications systems (PCS)/cellular communications systems, in-building products, and conventional antennas. The SATCOM segment offers earth-based and aeronautical antennas, terminals, and other hardware for communications via satellite link. It also provides a high-speed data product and variants to provide both voice and data connections; land portable satellite data terminal products, which allow access to corporate networks and the Internet, using the Inmarsat satellite network; a packet-data terminal to provide two-way data communications for messaging, tracking, and monitoring in the transportation, public safety, and remote industrial controls markets; and a maritime terminal for digital communications at sea over the Inmarsat network. The SatNet segment offers ground segment equipment for the satellite broadband communications market. Its principal product lines include DVB-RCS terminals, as well as DVB-RCS hubs, including stand-alone return link sub-systems and complete gateways. EMS Technologies founded in 1968 and is headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia.
