EPIX Pharmaceuticals, Inc. develops innovative pharmaceuticals, specializing in targeted magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) contrast agents for the diagnosis and clinical management of disease. EPIX Pharmaceuticals was formed in 1988. The company was formerly known as EPIX Medical, Inc. and changed its name to EPIX Pharmaceuticals, Inc. in September 2004. EPIX Pharmaceuticals is based in Cambridge, Massachusetts. It initiated Phase IIa clinical trial of MS-325 for imaging both the coronary arteries and myocardial perfusion, and also initiated a post-NDA clinical program of MS-325 for vessel imaging in July 2004. The company initiated its first human clinical trial of EP-2104R in August 2004.
