Hercules Incorporated engages in the manufacture and marketing of specialty chemicals and related services for business, consumer, and industrial applications. It operates through two segments, Performance Products segment and Engineered Materials and Additives segment. The Performance Products segment comprises two divisions, Pulp and Paper, and Aqualon. The Pulp and Paper division supplies functional, process, and water management chemicals for the pulp and paper industry. The Aqualon division offers water-soluble polymers, which are used as thickeners, emulsifiers and stabilizers for water-based paints, oil and gas exploration, building materials, and personal care products. The Engineered Materials and Additives segment comprises two divisions, FiberVisions and Pinova. The FiberVisions division manufactures polyolefin staple fibers used in disposable products like diapers and wipes. It produces monocomponent polypropylene fibers and bicomponent fibers consisting of a polypropylene core and a polyethylene sheath. In addition, it produces olefin fiber and yarn for the industrial and textile markets used in concrete and asphalt, wipes, upholstery and automotive fabrics, geotextiles, and filtration. The Pinova division manufactures wood and gum rosin resins and terpene specialties. It also produces pale wood rosin derivatives. The companys products are used in adhesives, rubber and plastic modifiers, food and beverages, flavor and fragrances, and construction specialties. Hercules was formed in 1912 and is headquartered in Wilmington, Delaware.
