The company operates in two segments, Core Companion Animal Health (CCA) and Other Vaccines, Pharmaceuticals, and Products (OVP). The CCA segment includes diagnostic and monitoring instruments and supplies, as well as single use diagnostic and other tests, vaccines, and pharmaceuticals, primarily for canine and feline use. Major products of this segment include handheld electrolyte instruments, chemistry instruments, and hematology instruments. These products are sold directly by the company, as well as through independent third party distributors and other distribution relationships. The OVP segment includes private label vaccine and pharmaceutical production, primarily for cattle; and also for other animals, including small mammals, horses, and fishes. All OVP products are sold by third parties under third party labels. Additionally, the company undertakes sponsored research and development projects for third parties, licensing of technology, and royalties. The company has products in various stages of development, such as the feline ultranasal FVRCP vaccine to protect cats from respiratory viral infection; and the in clinic feline and canine immucheck assay that measures antibody levels in cats and dogs. The company was founded by Mr. Robert B. Grieve. Heska was incorporated as Paravax, Inc. in 1988 and changed its name to Heska Corporation in 1995. The company is headquartered in Fort Collins, Colorado.
