Specialty Systems segment designs and manufactures machinery and related consumables that include industrial packaging equipment, and plastic and steel strapping for bundling and shipment of various products; welding equipment and metal consumables; equipment and plastic consumables that multipack cans and bottles; plastic stretch film and related packaging equipment; paper and plastic products; marking tools and inks; and foil and film and related equipment. It also offers specialty equipment, such as commercial food equipment, which includes dishwashers, refrigerators, mixers, ovens, food slicers, and specialty scales; paint spray equipment; static control equipment; wheel balancing and tire uniformity equipment; and airport ground power generators. The Leasing and Investments segment makes investments in mortgage entities; leases of telecommunications, aircraft, air traffic control, and other equipment; and properties. The company offers its products primarily to commercial and residential construction industries; pharmaceutical industries; furniture markets; and electronics applications markets. It also offers its products for automotive, appliance, and general industrial applications, as well as for consumer food applications and military applications. Illinois Tool Works, Inc. was founded in 1912 and is based in Glenview, Illinois.
