Intevac, Inc. engages in the provision of thin-film disk sputtering equipment, as well as the development of technology for low-light imaging sensors, cameras, and systems. It operates in two segments, Equipment and Imaging. The Equipment segment designs, manufactures, markets, and services capital equipment used in sputtering or deposition of engineered thin-films of material onto thin-film disks, which are used in hard disk drives. The Imaging segment develops and manufactures electro-optical sensors, cameras, and systems that permit detection of photons in the visible and near infrared portions of the spectrum, enabling imaging in low light situations. The company also provides process and applications support, customer training, installation, start-up assistance, and emergency service support to its customers. Intevac sells its products worldwide. The company was co-founded by Norman H. Pond in 1990. Intevacs principal executive offices are located in Santa Clara, California.
