The Commercial and Consumer segment provides optics and display products; and lasers, coated optics, and assemblies for defense, aerospace, instrumentation, biomedical, and other applications. The companys specific product applications include computer monitors and flat panel displays, projection systems, photocopiers, facsimile machines, scanners, security products, and decorative surface treatments. The companys products are used in communications; and commercial and consumer applications, including optical networks, entertainment, brand protection, and defense. The company markets its products primarily to original equipment manufacturers, distributors, and strategic partners in North America, Europe, and Asia-Pacific. JDS Uniphase was incorporated in 1979 and is headquartered in San Jose, California.
