4Kids Entertainment, Inc., together with its subsidiaries, operates as an entertainment and media company worldwide. The company operates in three segments: Licensing, Advertising Media and Broadcast, and Television and Film Production/Distribution. The Licensing segment engages in licensing merchandising rights to childrens television series, properties, and product concepts, including toys, videogames, trading cards, apparel, housewares, footwear, books, and other published materials. The Advertising Media and Broadcast segment, through an agreement with the Fox Broadcasting Company, leases Foxs Saturday morning programming block and provides programming content to be broadcast on 4Kids TV. It also provides print and broadcast media planning and buying services for clients, which are primarily in the childrens toy and game business. The Television and Film Production/Distribution segment produces and acquires animated and live-action television programs, and theatrical motion pictures for distribution to the television, home video, and theatrical markets. It also adapts foreign programming for the U.S. market and produces original animated television programming for domestic and international broadcast. In addition, 4Kids Entertainment produces original music compositions for use with its television and film production activities, and distributes home videos associated with television programming produced by the company. 4Kids Entertainment was organized in 1970 and is based in New York City.
