Kopin Corporation uses nanotechnology to manufacture nanosemiconductor products. It develops and manufactures customer and application specific heterojunction bipolar transistor (HBT) wafers for advanced integrated circuit applications. The companys primary HBT wafer product is based on an aluminum gallium arsenide vertical layer structure. It also supplies customers with HBT wafers based on an indium gallium phosphide vertical layer structure. Kopins HBT wafers are used in code division multiple access, global system mobile, and time division multiple access power amplifiers. These wafers are also used in the fabrication of power amplifiers for devices that communicate using wireless fidelity integrated circuits, and fiber optic switching equipment employed in broadband Internet data transmission wireless local area network chipsets and high speed instrumentation. In addition, Kopins CyberDisplay products are miniature displays designed for consumer electronics and next generation mobile communications devices. Applications of these products include viewing images in camcorders and digital cameras. In addition, it is developing light emitting diodes grown on sapphire substrates called CyberLites.
