In addition, the company provides services related to the design, production, and finishing of its components. It markets its products through direct sales force and independent representatives. The company was founded by Joseph Leonard Sr. in 1948 under the name Leonard's Metal Forming Company. It subsequently changed its name to LMI Aerospace, Inc. in 1998. LMI Aerospace is headquartered in St. Charles, Missouri.
