Madeco S.A. manufactures finished and semifinished nonferrous products based on copper, aluminum, and related alloys, as well as flexible packaging products for use in the mass consumer market for food, snacks, and cosmetics products. The company operates in four segments: Wire and Cable, Brass Mills, Flexible Packaging, and Aluminum Profiles. The Wire and Cable segment produces and sells in Chile, Argentina, Peru, and Brazil various wire and cable products designed to the telecommunications, energy, mining, construction, and manufacturing industries. It offers copper telecom cables, building wire, copper and aluminum power cables, magnetic wire, and mining cables. The Brass Mills segment manufactures products used by other industrial companies and the construction sector. These products include pipes, bars, busbars, and sheets made of copper, copper alloy, brass, aluminum, and aluminum alloy. It also manufactures coin blanks and minted coins, which are produced principally from alloys comprising copper, nickel, aluminum, and zinc. The company's Flexible Packaging segment manufactures flexible packaging for use in the packaging of consumer products, as well as aluminum foil and plastic wrap, for both commercial and home use. The Aluminum Profiles segment manufactures aluminum siding used principally in the construction sector for window frames, door frames, external and internal hardware fixtures, and goods for the production of industrial durable goods. In conjunction with the production of aluminum siding, the company has a curtain wall installation service. Madeco was founded by Mademsa in 1944. It was formerly known as Manufacturas de Cobre Madeco S.A. and changed its name to Madeco S.A. The company is headquartered in Santiago, Chile.
