Mesa Royalty Trust operates as a trust company with JPMorgan Chase Bank, formerly known as The Chase Manhattan Bank, as the trustee in the United States. The trust holds 90% net profits overriding royalty interest in a few producing oil and gas properties located in the Hugoton field of Kansas, the San Juan Basin field of New Mexico and Colorado, and the Yellow Creek field of Wyoming. The trust is classifiable as a grantor trust and not as an association taxable as a corporation. As a grantor trust, it would not incur federal income tax liability. The trust was created under the laws of the State of Texas in November 1979.
