Qualstar Corporation engages in the design, development, manufacture, and sale of automated magnetic tape libraries used to store, retrieve, and manage electronic data primarily in network computing environments. Tape libraries consist of cartridge tape drives, tape cartridges, and robotics to move the tape cartridges from their storage locations to the tape drives under software control. Its tape libraries provide storage solutions for organizations requiring backup, recovery, and archival storage of critical electronic information. Qualstar sells its products primarily through various market channels, including original equipment manufacturers, system integrators, and value added resellers located worldwide. In addition, it offers ultra small high-efficiency open-frame switching power supplies for original equipment manufacturers of telecommunications equipment, servers, routers, switches, RAIDs, and other processor based equipment. These power supplies are sold under the N2Power brand name through independent sales representatives and distributors. Qualstar has operations in North America, Europe, and Asia. The company was founded in 1984 by William Gervais and Richard Nelson and is headquartered in Simi Valley, California.
