Its Intelligence and Information Systems segment provides systems, subsystems, and software engineering services for national and tactical intelligence systems, as well as for homeland security and information technology solutions. It offers signal intelligence sensors and mission management systems; and delivers integrated solutions for government information technology requirements and homeland security solutions. The company’s Missile Systems segment manufactures missiles. It operates in strike, air-to-air, naval weapon systems, kinetic energy interceptor, advanced missile defense and directed energy, and land combat business areas. Its Network Centric Systems segment develops and produces mission solutions for networking, command and control, battlespace awareness, and air traffic management. The segment’s programs include civilian applications, command and control systems, integrated communications systems, and netted sensor systems. The company’s Space and Airborne Systems segment provides electro-optic/infrared sensors, airborne radars, precision guidance systems, electronic warfare systems, and space-qualified systems for civil and military applications. It also design and develops integrated systems and solutions, including unmanned aerial operations; electronic warfare; active electronically scanned array radars; airborne processors; weapon grade lasers; missile defense; and intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance systems. Its Technical Services segment provides technical, scientific, and professional services for defense, federal, and commercial customers. Its area of operation includes system and product support solutions, depot operations, engineering and production support, and logistics and training systems. In addition, the company’s Raytheon Aircraft provides business and special mission aircraft; and delivers jet, turboprop, and piston-powered airplanes to individual, corporate, and government. Raytheon was founded as American Appliance Company by Laurence K. Marshall, Vannevar Bush, and Charles G. Smith in 1922. The company is headquartered in Waltham, Massachusetts.
