Sauer-Danfoss, Inc. engages in the development, manufacture, and marketing of advanced systems for the distribution and control of power in mobile equipment principally in the America, Europe, and the Asia-Pacific regions. It operates through three segments: Propel, Work Function, and Controls. The Propel segment offers a range of closed circuit axial piston hydrostatic transmissions for the propulsion of mobile equipment. The Work Function segment provides custom-designed gear pumps, a range of gear pumps and motors, open circuit piston pumps, low speed high torque motors, and steering units that transmit power for the work functions of the vehicle. The Controls segment offers electrohydraulic valves and electronic controls, including microprocessor-based controls and electronic sensors that control and direct the power of a vehicle. This segment also designs and manufactures alternating current and direct current electric motors, electronic motor controllers, inverters, and power units. Sauer-Danfoss sells its products to original equipment manufacturers, as well as to the construction, road building, agriculture, turf care, and specialty vehicle markets. The company was incorporated under the name Sundstrand Venture Company in 1986 and changed its name to Sauer, Inc. in 1990. Subsequently, it merged with Danfoss Fluid Power and changed its name to Sauer-Danfoss, Inc. in 2000. Sauer-Danfoss is based in Lincolnshire, Illinois.
