Mac-Gray Corporation operates as a laundry facilities management contractor primarily in North America. It operates through, Laundry and Reprographics, and MicroFridge segments. The Laundry and Reprographics segment vended (card or coin-operated) laundry facilities management services in multiunit housing facilities, such as apartment buildings, colleges and universities, and public housing complexes in the United States. It sells commercial laundry equipment to public laundromats and to the multiunit housing industry. This segment also sells commercial laundry equipment directly to institutional purchasers, including hospitals, restaurants, and hotels, for use in their own onpremises laundry facilities. In addition, it offers a leasing program for commercial laundry customers. Further, this segment provides card/coin-operated reprographics equipment and services for the libraries of colleges, universities, graduate schools, and public libraries in North America. The MicroFridge segment supplies combination refrigerator/freezer/microwave ovens to multihousing facilities, such as military bases, hotels, motels, colleges and universities, and assisted living facilities. As of March 31, 2005, the company operated approximately 45,000 multiunit housing laundry rooms located in 40 states and the District of Columbia. The company was founded in 1927 and is headquartered in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
