Unibanco-União de Bancos Brasileiros S.A. provides a range of financial products and services in Brazil. It operates in four segments: Retail Banking, Wholesale Banking, Insurance and Pension Plans, and Wealth Management. The Retail Banking segment provides various credit and noncredit products and services, such as overdraft loans, consumer finance, credit cards, and a range of deposit accounts to individuals and small companies. The Wholesale Banking segment provides an array of products and services, including corporate lending; capital markets and investment banking services; cash management and payroll services; investment and brokerage services; project finance; and mergers and acquisitions advice. The Insurance and Pension Plans segment provides life, auto, health and property, and casualty insurance coverage, as well as pensions and retirement plans; and related products and services to individuals and businesses primarily through its 50/50 joint venture with American International Group, Inc. Unibanco-União de Bancos operated 867 branches and instore branches; 398 corporate-site branches; 164 Fininvest stores, including 49 Creditec points-of-sale converted into Fininvest stores; 10,055 Fininvest points-of-sale (retailers); 182 LuizaCred stores; 333 PontoCred stores; and 2,070 Banco 24 Horas sites (ATMs), as of June 30, 2004. Unibanco-União de Bancos has strategic relationship with Magazine Luiza, LuizaCred and Ponto Frio, PontoCred. The company was founded in 1924 and is headquartered in São Paulo, Brazil. Unibanco-União de Bancos Brasileiros S.A. is a wholly owned subsidiary of Unibanco Holdings S.A., as of June 30, 2004.
